The timeless art of painting and its influences

The practice gives people an opportunity to personalise their living spaces to ensure they meet their needs. At Prime Finish Cambridge we don’t take this fact lightly; we are dedicated to providing the perfect services for our clients. Large or small scale, no job is too tough for our team of decorators.

Having uses for a plethora of cultures and industries, the art of painting is a continuous wave of creativity that has withstood the tests of time. The oldest known paintings are thought to be 40,000 years old and created by the Neanderthals. Some of the earliest known cave paintings are located at the Chauvet Cave in France. These were created using red ochre, which was the most commonly used pigment for painting walls in the ancient Mediterranean world. Each painting has meaning to it but they has been disputed. For example, they could be a tribute to the surrounding nature or may have been a form of communication.

Considered by many to be the most famous time for painting is the Italian Renaissance era. Regarded as the golden age, the period was the time in which artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo Bunonarroti and Filippo Lippi existed. The evolution of painting at this time was on a scale unrivalled by any other. Through the use of perspective, the study of human anatomy and proportion, and through refinement of their techniques, these artists created some of the most well know paintings today. Among them is the Mona Lisa, perhaps the best known artwork in the world.

Our team at Prime Finish takes pride in the rich history behind painting and constantly strive to improve our techniques to keep our customer satisfaction levels high.
